Yea sometimes the 4ws spring inside the rack can go weak. So the only thing holding it central is a gert great spring. If you don't want it, delete it. That's the best way

Either there was something like diesel on the road at the roundabout, or you really need your four wheel geo properly setup. There is no danger that should happen with a properly working 4WS system - been driving 4WS ludes since 2005 and only had that once, when a lorry had dumped diesel all over the roundabout. The guy in the Mondeo behind me doing the same thing really gave the game away ...

so if i was to force the light to come on? would it make the rear unstable or anything major?

Not as such. It will still steer straight ahead but I wouldn't go deliberately go putting the light on mate.

it will steer straight ahead but any sideways pressure on the wheel such as a fast bend will have the back steering all on its own

I've been driving my 1999 lude for past three months with light on and gave it stink round corners too never felt it dangerous and also passed mot without problem of being on. I want to get mine fixed but all mechanics are clueless about it and I'm certainly not going to honda for it!!

Did you reset it like I showed you? Need to find out the error codes.
