Hey guys, now the ludes off the road for a while, the brakes are all going to be changed.
Im going to go for EBC Turbo drilled & grooved discs for the front and some either EBC or Brembo standard discs on the rear but im not sure on what pads to get.
When i had my mini people were telling me mintex pads were far better than EBC but im not sure if things are any different with ludes?
Its still going to be used as a daily car but i wanted the brakes to be slightly better as the ABS has been removed etc lol.
Whats all your opinions?
Cheers

What are you doing to be doing with the car?
Personally I would save the cash on the front discs and get a set of Brembo discs

Mintex front pads

I cant find any performance pads for the 2G but if you want performance you could enquirer about these?

I had mintex pads front on my 300zx and swapped these for Brembo ones and the difference was staggering. The brembo ones were awesome. They were cheaper I think too.

Would that be going from used worn pads to new ones?

Yeah, but the brembo ones seemed better than the mintex ones when I put them on when they were new.

Sweet cheers for all that

il probably get brambo discs and pads all round on pay day lol. Quick question, is there any difference between the 1.8 discs and 2.0 discs? Some say without abs but mine doesn't have it anyway so would it matter?

I used to think Mintex pads were good but I've read a few threads about them being little better than OEM quality. Not used EBC pads on the car as I always use Ferodo (awesome but pricey) but I did fit a set of their sintered (metallic) pads to an old motorbike and the additional bite over OEM was incredible!
Just thought I would throw this in for thought:
I used to run Tarox G88 discs on the front of my Prelude, they have 40 grooves and they were staggeringly powerful for the brakes. When I changed my front discs a year ago I went for Tarox Japan Sport, which are grooved and drilled. My front brakes have nowhere near as much bite now, despite new Ferodo pads again and even fitting Accord Type-R newly refurbished calipers recently.
If I was in your position I would only be considering grooved discs and would highly recommend Tarox. I fitted some Black Diamond discs to the rear brakes a couple of years ago and while they are fairly good the metal is not treated anywhere near as well as Tarox discs as they have had orange surface rust from day one which the Tarox ones never develop.

EBC i have nothing good to say about it, that brake discs are rubbish, they warp and pads are crap

^^ I completely agree, I had a set of Green Stuff pads and the EBC turbo groove discs (on my Calibra) and they were dreadful. I had 2 sets of discs swapped out on manufacturers warranty.
I replaced them with Black Diamond discs plus the Predator pads and they never missed a beat.
This is just my experience though, I also know people who have nothing but praise for EBC.
