So got back from the shops to find the engine making a strange clicking/rattling noise while it was idling on the drive. Opened the bonnet for a look around in the dark  Once I'd found a torch it turns out there is no PAS fluid in the res (well very little) Looking at it the metal pipes coming out of the res look rotten :o so this may be the culprit. I've got a bottle left over from changing the fluid a few years ago so I'll bung that in tomorrow and have a proper look for leaks.

Hope this ain't going to be expensive...................

Don't know if it helps, but on ours we had the power steering cooler just behind the front bumper and one of the pipes on that had gone.

Think most of them will be rotten and leaking by now mate! Just keep topping it up until you can get some made up? Or get some off a breaker. Or go down the pas delete route or source a universal cooler/pipes.Wouldnt advise bodging in rubber pipes with jubilee clips as its a high pressure line. Not sure if you could remove the cooler and reservoir and link it like the mb6 civics. Obv cuz its a completely different pressure pump. Honda replacements are expensive and im yet to find a company that makes replicas. In the same boat as you.

Its the cooler pipe that sits in the front bumper that is leaking :(

I think it is no16 on the lings page £110 quid

If it had been no 27 the job would be much easier!

You could make one up yourself from a roll of cunifer pipe.

As a temporary fix, using some petrol hose will be fine though. I have a similar lash up on my 4th gen atm as a temporary solution.

Without starting a new thread.... i noticed my power steering fluid bubbling away. Well it was warm and moving about quite freely in the reservoir so not necessarily bubbling away.
Is that normal?

Has anyone on the forum changed this line out?

Not number 16, our cooler itself had rotted so I took it off and just bypassed it.

I replaced both hoses and the jubilee clips on my PAS reservoir a couple of months ago as it was leaking from the hoses and pooling fluid below. Interestingly enough it still seems to be leaking, albeit a lot slower. :?

I couldn't detect any leak from the hoses, or the top of the reservoir but it still pools underneath so wondering whether the reservoir has developed a hairline crack somehow. Not keen to replace it for £123 mind you! :o Everything was cleaned, fitted correctly and genuine Honda power steering fluid, so a little baffled!

Found this video when I was investigating the problem, which shows worn O-rings letting air into the PAS system on some models. Not tested on mine yet but might be worth a look:
