Just don't buy coilover sleeves from eBay whatever you do

I'm not 100% up on the 3G 4WS but at least on 4G/5G changing your suspension doesn't require anything special for 4WS, you just have to make sure the rear wheels can still turn and don't foul on anything ;) can't imagine it being any different on the 3G.

IMO if you're slamming it then you're going to run into issues with 4WS at some stage, and from what I've read 3G 4WS is amazing so you would be making quite a sacrifice if you were to bin it.

But if they're a reputable brand then it makes no difference where i get them from surely?

What sort of issues might I have with the 4WS and slamming it? Obviously the rear wheels have to turn, so can't slam it quite as far as on other cars, but other than that isn't it just the same as anything else? Or do the rear steering components wear out with the altered angle/height of the wheels?

You won't find a reputable brand of coilovers sleeves, eBay or not, just I've only ever seen them on eBay ;)

It's just common sense really, your rear wheels will need to still turn. As said I'm not up on 3Gs or 3G 4WS tbh, but I know that the 3G 4WS is mechanical whereas 4G/5G is controlled by electric gubbins.

I'm sure someone who actually owns a 3G can help you better than I can ;)

Yes, the rear wheels on a 3G have a large turning angle. If they are deep within the wheel arches it is only logical that this lack of clearance will interfere with the excessive turning angle.

Just put your wheel on full lock both ways and you will see what I mean.

@NafemanNathan should be able to shed more light on this as he is the most experienced in these matters I would suggest.

Yeah you can turn them into a usable and safe coilover kit. They just need helper springs and adaptors and a top mount that actually fits the top mount.

Still doesnt help with spring rates and by the time I've replaced all that you should have just gone to Gaz to have a set made :)

coilover sleeves are ok for a perfect road or track, or just looks

but when I had them car was bouncing around, felt really unsafe

might have been better with uprated shocks

It's generally just the case that they're a universal item. Because they're not car specific the seats are very unlikely to fit well in an OEM shock and the spring rate is never going to be right either. The concept works, but the execution has been pulled off lazily and cheaply.
