edit - sorry that seemed bitchy. i personally wouldnt fancy using copper grease on the sliders as ive had to clean slider pins out that had become "gritty" due to being copper greased, the copper grease had clumped together and turned into a paste. dont get me wrong, for the back of pads - yes! copper grease is the kiddy! but slider pins need rubber friendly grease IMO

this copper grease dries out and becomes like glue so never use it on slidersbristol_bb4 wrote:copper grease will corrode the rubber boots on your slider pins over time!

I took the rear brake apart thinking it would be stuck sliders (as usual), but one of the pads had siezed in the carrier. The pad was brand new when I intalled it but over time a load of crap had built up. So when the meat of the pad wore down the whole pad got closer to the disc and wedged itself on all the crap. I quick cleanup and all was well again.

Hey dude, I might well have to take you up on that. Problem is of course, I cant REALLY take the car anywhere at the mo.knightmare wrote:BIO Would you like me to have a look for you ? I'm more than happy to help mate .... I've got all the tools to do it and the proper grease too...
Paul
What I'll do before committing, is take a look and see if it is just dirty/stuck sliders, I do have the relevant sockets to take that bit off as it turns out, its just stuff like rewind tools etc that I don't have.
Especially as I'm now armed with more info I think I could give it a reasonable go and I should relish the opportunity to learn. The missus parents are also offering their (flat) drive way and they only live 0.5mile away so I don't have to drive it too far which is good.
Really appreciating all the help so far. This is why I love forums like this, so much community spirit and love for what we have/do

you dont need a rewind tool, you can wind the piston with a large flat blade screwdriverBio wrote: its just stuff like rewind tools etc that I don't have
