Not since I changed the discs and pads around a year 1/2 ago ive took it all apart tonight and everything looks and feels in good orderno play in any bushes etc the rear stabilizer link looks good, no broken springs, spring is sitting in correct position but the bearing is definitely shot but that wouldn't cause the knocking though

Im gonna say go with changing the ball joints. i went through EVERYTHING trying to sort my knock before i worked it out, and the ball joints were well cheap off ebay.

As i said for the price and how easy it is to remove the arms its worth trying.

They are pressed in - if you have a bench vice then you could do the job yourself ;)

You can do it without a vice. All you need is a big hammer, a large socket and a pair of circlip pliers would help.

Remove the circlip under the ball joint and hammer the old ball joint out. Remove the rubber boot from the new ball joint, hammer it back in, replace the rubber boot, put the circlip back on.

You have to be careful with aftermarket upper ball joints. Sometimes they have too big a groove for the arm to sit in which results in the ball joint rattling.

if the bearing is gone and there is movement of the hub it the brake disc will be rattling around inside the caliper/pads causing all kinds of noises
