Opinions on mixing bushes

Post by Max » Mon Apr 10, 2017 8:21 pm

Hi All,

I'm in the middle of stripping all my suspension components on my Type S, everything is coming out, all the control arms, wishbones, struts, even the brakes, all about to be refurbed.

My initial thoughts were buy the full ES Type SH kit and do the lot, on the front i need every single bush so definitely buying the front kits from ES. But on removal of rear components i found that most bushes had already been replaced with ES bushes and are still in very good condition. I already have some poly bushed rear uppers so thats covered too, but a couple of had never been done, namely the lower control arm inner and the toe arm. So on the rear i literally just need these two.

Im going to have to buy strongflex toe arm bushes anyway so I thought for the rear ill get the inner too but they only have the yellow SPORT bushes and they are 90ShA and everything else is going to be 80ShA. So the question is if i buy the strongflex SPORT ones and everything else is normal stiffness am i going to be creating any kind of weird vibration issues?

Hope that makes sense, am i over thinking this?

Btw im aware Megan racing do the adjustable toe arms but i cant bring myself to spend that kind of money, similarly i know Japspeed do a much cheaper version but they dont list it anymore so unless either come up on here cheap im going to stick with OEM parts.

Thanks in advance!
Max

I have the strong flex on the rear lower arms at the subframe, and ES everywhere else, which are a mix of red and black. I have no issues.

i have a mix of es red (wishbones& front& rear drop links), oem bushes (lcas and trailing arms, and rear toe arms) and strongflex red (arb bushes front and back). All on my BB4 and the handling is epic.
i wouldnt worry too much about mixing bushes as it probably condition of the bushes that is more important than anything else
