Just emerged from under the rear of my newly acquired gen 5 (2000). Having spent my working life designing and building special production equipment, I am embarrassed to admit that I have never seen such a collection of struts, links, stifflegs and pivot points and I haven't the foggiest notion of how it all works. I had assumed it to be 4ws but perhaps not. If so, would the driver be mounted to the rear and about the center line of the car. Mine has a formed steel subframe with solid links out to the wheel carriers. I have a little bourbon left and I'm going to pour it in a glass now.

You will have an electric motor that looks like a small steering rack mounted between the rear wheels on the subframe if it's 4ws, it's a pretty obviose piece of kit being a man of engineering I'm sure you would identify it straight away
... I think you have a 2ws 5g if I've understood correctly..
