Front Pads Needed,Whats Good?

Post by Greg-SiR » Wed Oct 14, 2015 11:43 am

There is some Protex on front and back, never heard of them before and fine for normal use but response is very slack under a bit of pressure.
I have upgraded to slotted rotors a while back and just want to match off the upgrade and get a better product down there,i will also get to the braided fluid lines next.
Not looking to spend too much just the next step up from road/street use.
Had Project Mu in mind but a bit pricey down here.

If you have slotted discs you will want a harder compound pad or the slotted disc will just cheese grater cheap/soft pads to bits if they get too hot.

IMO the best bang for buck pads are Ferodo DS2500 or Hawk HP+. Both are around £125 for the front set. Just stick with cheap guff on the rear. I have £14 Mintex rear pads on the back of my 4th gen!

Hawk hps low dust to keep your wheels clean. I'm pretty sure you can find them for less than £100 if you try hard enough.

Just another thing on the Ferodo i have a query come back requesting the dimensions if someone has it fresh in their that would be great.

Pad shape FCP904 and spec 137.9mm wide, 53.0mm high (radial depth46.0mm) and 18.5mm thick

First quote back is $254 excl postage,a bit steep but rumours of a sister co who may stock Hawk and Brembo equivalents is keeping me on hold.

I have brembos on mine, just a road car mind you, but they are excellent.
