OEM 3g blade wheels - diamond cut or not?

Post by wurlycorner » Wed Jul 22, 2015 11:14 pm

I'm now confused whether the se wheels were originally diamond cut, or not.

I've seen press photo's where they were;

But I've also seen photo's from that era where they appear to have been painted from original (though I can't lay my hands on any right now!) and looking at the wheels on my green 3g (which are painted) they don't look like they've been refurbed and still have original Honda wheel weights on them.

So I'm wondering...
Were they only diamond cut for press and painted for general sale?
Or were they only diamond cut for JDM and USDM but painted for Europe?
Or was diamond cut an option on these wheels?
Or what?

Does anyone know?

Some were diamond cut and some painted. But yes I think it was market dependant. These were optionals on 3rd 4th and 5th gens.

That helps make some sense of it all.

So the centre caps. On diamond cut ones, were they metal? Or still plastic? And if so, how the bell did they match that colour and shine?
