Post What & How to check rear suspension after side swipe?

Post by dperry » Tue Feb 03, 2015 2:25 am

My 92 prelude left rear wheel is pointed inward in the front of this wheel ( i think this is called toe in ) Image
Also this wheel is tilted inward at the bottom after going in a ditch avoiding a deer that was to big to hit head on

Can someone tell me what to measure, and how to measure the suspension parts? If something is bent I want to know before i wast $ getting it aligned. My car has the stock suspension and wheels. Will post pictures asap. These are the only ones i have right now. Tomorrow i will post actual side by side pictures of the left rear and the undamaged right side. Maybe someone can spot something that is bent.Thank you in advance for your

Ouch, bad luck with that.

It's not so much a case of measuring anything, more a visual inspection of the arms should tell you.
If you can get the back of the car up in the air (ideally with the wheels off) then you can look at the 2 sides in comparison to see what's bent.

I suspect it will be the bottom arm bent backwards. That would cause the wheel to be turned in at the front and the bottom to be pulled in slightly.

This image should help you...

I'd suggest item 26 & 27 could be bent. Obviously difficult to know for sure without inspecting it.

However, do you have 4WS?...

Yep, that image is for a 2ws 4th gen.
If you have 4ws it's basically all exactly the same though, just item 26 looks different (more like a rod with an adjustable end on a screw thread)

Item 26 is what my money is on.
