Socketed OBDI P28 ECU + Crome chip loaded with an H22 base map. Never Used

Bought from http://www.speedinnovations.com/ in 2009, the ECU was put together by http://www.autocomputersdirect.com/. The Socketed ECU comes with an installed reprogramable chip. The chip is loaded with an H22 base map. The software used was Crome.

The ECU fits any OBDI Prelude, and with a conversion harness, fits OBDII 5th gen Preludes.

£170 delivered

The equivalent Hondata S300 setup is £550 http://www.h-tune.co.uk/hondata-s300-p2 ... ckage.html

Like any programmable ECU this will optimise any mods you have done to your engine, and most likely would benefit an unmodded car as well. A qualified tuner will be able to get the most out of your engine by changing ECU settings such as fuel & air ratios and VTEC engagement. Its hard to put a bhp value on it as it depends on what mods you have and who is tuning it. An ECU like this is the next stage on from one of the Spoon chips for the 4th gen.

The only major limitation of the P28 is that it has no capacity to control Prelude IAB's (Idle Air Bypass - secondary butterflies in the OEM intake). An IAB control board can be added to the ECU by places like http://www.gotboost.co.uk/ and http://www.h-tune.co.uk/ for not a lot of cash, H-Tune state something like a tenner. If you dont want the IAB control board the vacuum lines of the Prelude intake manifold can be reconfigured to hold the IAB's open at all times.

The unmodded P28 is perfect for people using H22a7 ATR or Skunk2 intake manifolds that do not have IAB's.

To get the best from this ECU it would best to find a tuner who is experienced with the Crome tuning software.

May help if you know what kind of mods would most benefit from the basemap, and what kind of gains are to be expected... As it is indeed a great price ;-)

So what difference would this make to my 4th gen bb1 running aem intake & s/s manifold, exhaust & decat?

Hard to quantify in terms of numbers, but a RR tune/remap with this ECU installed would tie all your mods in together.

You can alter VTEC engagement point as well as rev limit & fuel/ignition throughout the range. I dont believe a P28 has IAB capability though

You can have the IAB components added mind and it doesn't cost the earth either.

More power!!!!!! :D

As said in my first post this ECU can be used in both 4th and 5th gens, however 5th gens are OBDIIA and will require the use of a conversion harness.
