5th Gen Honda Prelude Thule roof rack SOLD

Having sold my 5th gen this is now for sale. I have used it to transport my mountain bikes up to the trails and it has been great. Fits and works perfectly.

You will get:

2x Square Thule roof bars
Thule 750 foot pack
Thule 1074 Honda Prelude fitting pack 97 on (5th gen).
Thule 774 short roof adaptor

It is in perfect working order and is entirely presentable. However, it does have the usual scuffs and scratches associated with use and has pairs of indentations in the rubber coating where I have fixed the u clamps for my cycle carriers.

£100 plus P&P. I will use a courier if required or you can of course collect from Exeter, Devon. You will have to pay the pay pal fees as necessary.

I will also swap or part ex for a Thule (or equivalent quality) roof rack for a 2006 Audi A4 Estate (B7) with roof rails, quality cycle carriers or both. Let me know what you've got.

Thanks. Joe.

Registrant interest for this, though I've never used a roof rack before. What is involved in fitting? How was the bike actually secured to the rack, how many bikes can be fitted to this?

Had the same one, good stuff.

To put bikes on this you will need a bike carrier/bike rack,

Fitting is relatively straightforward. Basically the front foot pack hooks under the roof line in the door aperture. The rear foot pack just sits on the roof behind the b pillar. The short roof adapter connects the front rail to the rear and again hooks into the door aperture to hold the rear rail down. I don't have any fitted photos but there are some on here.

You will need a cycle carrier to attach a bike though.

I have a couple of Thule Tour cycle racks that I use on my 4G setup, great bits of kit and very quick to put on / take off.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. excuse my ignorance, what is the security feature for this? Can you not take it off if the door is closed? In that case is it made for preludes or is it one size fits all?

So my understanding is just a 'load holder' so you could in theory tie anything to this. but then to attach a bike you need a separate bike rack? Can anyone help me with finding one which is compatible??

Correct.

Any of that range will fit, the Tour 510, the 515 etc. It's all down to the type of bars. Those are square section, like mine, so you just buy with the square section brackets to fit.

You can buy locks for them relatively cheaplw on ebay. The fitting kit is specifically profiled for the 5th gen roof. Yes is just horizontal bars on which you can attach whatever you like cycle carrier's, roof box etc etc

thanks for the feedback guys. The way I see it this is probably the best way of fitting bikes to prelude as it also means I can add luggage box etc to compensate for the poor luggage space!

Front Row Joe, I'm just having a look at prices for compatible cycle racks, if I find something good I#ll take it off you make.

How much will postage be to Milton Keynes?

Ideal. I imagine it will be in the region of £15 - 20 by courier as it's an awkward shape. That's what I paid to get it to me anyway. Private message me if you're interested as I will get an email to remind. I don't check the forum as often as I used to. Pretty much any roof mounted cycle carrier will fit this I imagine. Cheers
