Battery for engine swap help

Post by rick_I_S » Wed Oct 10, 2012 1:15 am

Just had the h22a7 engine put into the car and it seems to struggle to start up everytime. sound like its about stall then it kicks and starts. also when i have the steering wheel on full lock it starts to cut the revs and then stalls. The battery was not upgraded when the engine swap was done would it need to be? or would it be a different problem?

Any help is great thanks

Rick

everything works fine just the start up and when i have it on full lock without moving and not reving it. Once its started its fine and there are no problems apart from when on full lock as said.

The battery I have is for a 1.6 so its a lot less power than for the 2.2

check cranking power, but im sure 1.6 use less cranking power and that might be your problem

not sure which battery is needed for the h22a7.

Seen on halfords a few different ones but still not sure which one i would need might have to phone them up.
On their site it has a few and the start up power is somewhere between 400-500amps where as the 1.6 is 330amps

also on another i searched it says cold cranking amps is about 450 for the h22 and for the 1.6 is around 350.

So seems to be a big difference

Im sure it will used the same battery as the Lude. I had to buy a new one last year and the cheapest I found was from Honda themselves. Say its for an ATR and it should be around £70. Or http://www.coxmotorparts.co.uk/genuine- ... -1096.html as posted up earlier today.

yeah the accord and the prelude are around the same but the 1.6 civic battery that i got at the moment seems to be a lot less. So would think it was that. Or at least hopefully it would be. Think im going to try get one tomorrow as i got work soon

yeah he is good, pretty sure it is the battery though as its only from a 1.6 and its pretty old anyway so cant hurt to get a new one. if it doesnt work then il give gerry a ring and see.
