CEL after Cruise Control delete

Tore out my A/C & cruise control over the weekend & now the CEL illuminates after 10-15mins of driving or immediately if you press the CC master switch :(

Can anyone tell me how to prevent the CEL from coming on?

Cruise module is still under the dash & plugged in but all the gubbins from the engine bay have been removed & blanked.

Any help appreciated!

Cheers

Chris

Should be as simple as unplugging the CC module.

Tried unplugging it & it still comes on!

How do I check the fault code?

Many thanks!

1 long flash & 2 shorties!

I make that code 12- EGR Valve.

I remember pulling one vac hose to it & then blanking it with a self-tapper.....

I would go there first and try and put it back to normal. Then see if the CEL still comes on when you press the CC button.

Have now reset the code via ecu & radio/clock fuses

Light initially came on when I deselected the CC master, so I'm hoping it won't light up again if I don't touch the switch.

Got a 70mile drive tonight so will see if it happens again

Check the vac line that runs from the top of the EGR valve, along the top of the injectors to the control solenoid by the power steering reservoir, and from there back to the intake manifold. There's probably a leak or disconnection somewhere. The cruise control and EGR vac lines run alongside each other.

That code means the ECU isn't able to control the EGR valve properly.

That vac line along with all the other gubbins has been binned and the vac lines blanked:oops:

I assumed it was all part of the CC setup....maybe I was a tad hasty :o
