morning folks
Have 2000 sport been in family from new just lacking power i know engines not made for performance. I really dont want hassle changing engine.
Car currently has full stainless exhaust and decat
Is there 4 branch available been told 2.3 4th gen same fitment as more aftermarket parts for them. Chip for ecu?
Or going extreme turbo?
Or is transplant only way forward?
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Re: F20A4 TUNING?
I saw many people in the same situation with F20 mainly with 4th gens. Basically there are two options. Trying to make NA F20 more powerful is not an option. On guy tried to put 2.3 head, a lot of hassle, finally it was running. But it's really not worth it.
1. Just put H22. I think it's the easiest and fastest way. If you put H22A5 or perfectly H22A8 with ECU and everything from another 5th gen, it will be really straight forward. To my mind A5 will be a joy for a short period of time, sine that 185 hp for a Prelude is not that much. 200 hp is really a difference, at least to me.
2. Put a turbo and you will get around 200 hp. It's not extreme, pretty simple bolt-on parts, stock engine internals. But to my mind this way requires more work, you will need to put an intercooler and modify your front bumper, maybe remove AC, for example.
Price - not sure. I think both will be similar.
You might want to upgrade front brakes to 282 mm.
Also at least for 4th gen H22 and F20 drive shafts are identical. Better to double check, but keep in mind.

As others have said the H22 swap is the best way.
I'm going to sell up at some point and get a H22 model but that is only because I want a blue one too
If I remember rightly I've read that turbo builds don't last long either because the rods on the F20 are much weaker than the H22 but I can't find a source for that right now.

Do a H22 swap, don’t look back
...
It’s a pretty simple swap, won’t cost the earth and is hugely rewarding to drive, especially if you get a higher powered version of the H22, JDM A, a5, a8 etc
Also if the car has been in your family since new it’s all the more reason to reward the old girl by making her faster
