Knocking from Engine (H22A) - FIXED

Started the car up this morning all ok but after a few miles it has developed a distinct knocking noise from the block. It may have been there from start up but i maybe didnt hear it due to exhaust noise/rpm on auto choke
Its been throwing an intermittent code 1 (02 sensor) for the last week or so - I have a sensor but not changed it over yet.
Car runs fine with no blue smoke.

Question i have is:

Can a fault with the 02 sensor cause the engine to sound like it has bottom end knock?
The knock in question doesnt sound metalic or like valvetrain but more of a deeper plock plock plock noise.

I plan to check vtec solenoid filter for swarf - lift the rocker cover and check timing on the cam gears - maybe drop the oil.

Any suggestions welcome!

Could be detonation?

checked the vtec solenoid no swarf or crud

turns out one of the spark plugs had wound itself right out - as soon as newkid took the spark plug cover off i could see one of the spark plugs was sitting an inch higher - it just lifted out - screwed them all back in tight and noise has gone :)

whew - couldnt help thinking it was curse of Friday the 13th.....

Yep you guys were on the right tracks :)

guess it also explains the recent intermittent cel for 02 sensor
so thats two problems fixed

newkid will tell you it sounded very like bottom end knock

I was worried there for a couple of hours

now i just need to fix the main beam headlight issue and it will be back on track
