Guys,
Having a wee issue with the accord the now. When I got the car I flushed the coolant as it was all brown...likely it was rusty after sitting so long. So flushed it loads till the water ran clear then filled up with coolant and away I went. No issues until around a week ago when I noticed the temp gauge would go to about quarter then drop so though it was a dodgy thermostat. I have replaced this and the coolant was a lovely shade of brown again. Topped up with coolant tool for a run and the temp sat perfectly again no issues.
Missus took the car to work yesterday no issues. Come home in the morning temp has went up over half. But got home.
So checked it over no coolant left. Refilled (should also note has been blead each time coolant has gone in). She got to work with no issues again last night however has had to stop on way home with temp gauge up over half. She had checked the radiator before leaving work but the radiator was full.
Any ideas I would appreciate it.
I should also note the thermostat housing was all brown also.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

blocked rad? blown head gasket? if it was a toyota surf it would be the head
you might be lucky with the rad. Prob got crud from the bottom all spread around it so coolant can't pass.

Yeah if the system was that bad before you started, it could take ages to clear all the crap out properly. You might have some small galleries that were crudded up and are now starting to slowly clear, which could be causing some air locking/level to drop.
Did you take the rad fully out of the car and flush it with the hose, both directions and turning the rad upside down etc? And did you connect the hose directly onto the end of the hoses coming out of the heater matrix? That's the best way to make sure both of those are properly clear.
Sounds like you probably need to keep flushing it several times, or run some rad flush in it (although beware, if corrosion on things like the core plugs was bad, you may end up causing some leaks with rad flush).

Yeah no leaks from what I can find and the radiator looks in decent condition.
I've just drained the system again will flush it through and I've got more coolant to put in.
Just to note I took it on about 20 mile run vtec and all not an issue didn't overheat. No loss of coolant nothing.
Some pics from draining the system.

Urgh that's been quite badly abused.
It's also worth looking at the inside of the cooling hoses. They can accumulate rust inside the walls. Can normally be cleaned off by holding them under a running tap while crushing\squeezing them in your hands.

Yeah the guy before me really hadn't looked after it. It's not worrying me too much as this is the one getting the rebuild but would like it to keep going till spring if possible haha
