Lude Generation

Right guys, 1st off, apologies for not being an active forum member...work stuff blah, blah, blah

I stalled my car coming out of a junction and now it will not start. Managed to get a pal to tow me to his house to try and investigate. On the way there I tried bump starting it and nada!

Checked all fuses 1st - all intact. Check the CEL codes - light stayed on (No fault found - I believe)

Tried digging around the forum for clues. Tried the Main Relay issue...I don't think it's this as fuel pump primes and then stops (and fuel came out of the pipe from the unconnected fuel filter.)

Tried the dizzy - sparks from ignition coil, but not out of the dizzy cap. Bought new cap and rotor - no change. Cannibalised another dizzy for it's internals - nowt.

Completely baffled...any clues guys?

why did you cannabalise the dizzy why didnt you just swap the dizzy? welcome back lol

It was off a Civic. It was a point proving excercise really (re no sparking issue) and I know it's not a Lude one, but checked internals - parts the same, mounting point different. Same symptoms after fitting.

Solved!! Tried another igntion coil and wumph - life!!

Annoyed but happy So lessons learnt - for the price of a new igntion coil (29 quid Eurocarparts) ignore the fact it's sparking - couldn't tell the strength of the output from the tester we were using - that and the internals of a cheaper Civic TD-80U dizzy work in a bloody expensive TD-89U one

Typical for me this one Been trying to resolve it since Wednesday, chasing my tail going through the bigger possibilities first. Didn't want to post anything on the forum until I'd exhausted all avenues and within 10 minutes of posting this, I thought "I wonder if the ignition coil isn't pushing out enough power"
Another bonus that's come out of this...the slight hesitation the car has been suffering for months has now gone
