Theres one issue tho. when the car idles the rev counter is out by about 500 rpm so the vtec kicks in around 5500rpm when in real its 5000rpm. Vtec dirdct tell me its something to do with the distributor?

Have you got EL dials? They may be screwed. Swap them for another set to check. I had this issue on a previous 4th gen and swapping the dials fixed it.

Yeah so you have the EL dials. There might be someone on here that has a spare set or get hold off a set from a breaker.

I have a spare set. Not heard of them being a problem like that though?
What makes you think the tacho is out by 500rpm and where are you Teddy?

Hi Iain, this happened to me on my first BB1 years ago. I had a couple of people plug in diagnostic machines that was reading the idle at like 850rpm but the dials were reading about 1350rpm. It was like that all the way up the rev range so you wouldn't know when vtec was supposed to come on, it was very off putting.
This was back in the PUK days and a guy off the forum named Kel (can't remember his forum name) had a spare set and I went down to Brighton and he swapped them over for me and the problem disappeared immediately.

Its out because once the car has warmed up fully even after having it started for 15 minutes it idles around 1400rpm. And vtec kicks in around 5500rpm

If I'd known on Friday I could have delivered them yesterday
There might still be an LG express option in the next couple of weeks though...
Actually, didn't think to check... Is it mph or kmh dials you're after?
