Reverse head

Ok so most of you know I have been in talks with an engine builder in the states with regards to the above, well it's not 100% reliable and I would want it to stay my daily runner so until all the wrinkles are ironed out.
Well anyway I woke up this morning with it all going round in my head so to speak  with an it really can't be that simple moment.

The thought was what part of the whole package is truly directional ?? and when you say the H22 is a counter-clockwise engine what side of the car are you standing at when you say that.

Ok the thought went like this if your standing at the cambelt side of the car watching it all go round the engine will run counterclockwise and you have five forward gears and one reverse.

However if you turn the whole engine and gearbox package 180 degrees the engine now spins clockwise? but you have five reverse gears and one forward

Ok I will try to get to the point if you stood a k series engine with the intake facing forward and the H22 with the intake facing forward do they spin in the same direction?, Is the gearbox the limiting factor?

The 7th gen accord has the gearbox on the passenger side of the bay whereas the H22 has the gearbox on the drivers side could it really be as simple as turning the whole engine round and strapping on a 7th gen accord or K series gearbox.

That's the discussion I am off for breakfast

Yes, it can't be that difficult.

Just stop pissing about and get on with it!

I pretty much have the reverse head thing down that's not the issue the issue is keeping that reliable and stopping it from grenading which they seem to do every so often because of piston/valve/head/vtec factors and keeping or increasing horsepower.
If I could just turn the whole engine and use a later k gearbox? I could end up with a 6 speed box? as a bonus

So let me get this right, you want to flip the engine? Or have the motor run backwards?

flip the engine basically I am just asking as the only truly directional item in the package is the gearbox?

the problem is with the geometry of the engine the head is canted and just flipping the pistons isn't enough to cope. Think of how the tower of pisa was supposedly fixed in the medieval times that's how the engine sits with a flipped head.

Now its millimetres or thousandths of a millimetre but if you don't want to lose power or if you want to increase power those millimetres matter.

So to keep the legendary reliability of the H22 and to get something new and different I think flipping the engine might be the way to go

I think I've had reverse head before.

Well you are backwards.
