Lude Generation

Has anyone else fitted ABS driveshafts on an non-ABS Lude? Did you see any issues?

Is there a difference between knuckles from an ABS and and a non-ABS car?

Most non-ABS joints are still ABS ring compatible, they just don't have them.

Isn't it just the ABS 'ring' that's different? I remember a long time ago Rich managed to take the toothed ABS ring off my old drive shafts and put it on the replacements.

I have been running with ABS driveshafts for almost two years. The only issue that I have is that my hub nut does not go all the way over the splines on the end of the driveshaft There is roughly 2 lines of thread still on the hub nut. It is all tight, noting moves, there is nothing trapped on the inside of the knuckle.

I was just wondering if anyone had ever experienced something similar. I am tempted to buy knuckles off an ABS lude to see if that cures it

Not sure I entirely get what you're saying here. Obviously the splined portion goes through the hub, and then the nut goes on over the thread on the end. So your hub nut shouldn't go over the spline. The nut is there to pull everything through tightly, so if the nut meets the threads there's a chance it wouldn't be done up tight enough and you'd have lateral play.

Do you me the nut hangs off the end of the CV joint by about 2 threads?

So you can't knock the flange of the nut into the dipple on the joint? I suppose your only way to know whether it's inserted fully is to measure it when it's apart. Awkward though.

There's obviously a chance the CV joint isn't quite the right size. Might have been intended for another Honda.

This is the 2nd set of ABS driveshafts that the car has had fitted to it and both have done the same. Yes you can knock the lip of the hub nut in.

As far as I can tell the shaft is seated on the back of the hub/knuckle fine.

I'd say it all sounds fine.

Shouldn't be like that? There should be threads protruding out the of the nut, or at least the nut should be flush with the end of the thread?
