Hey folks,
Remember that bit about there being a 15-20% chance of valve damage...?
Got a call from Rich saying that the belts etc. are all done, but that 2 cylinders have poor compression meaning that valves have been damaged - just my luck
I'll go ahead with the works and keep my MK4 on the road rather than send it to the scrap heap and hopefully I'll be back on the road in my Lude in a weeks time.

dude that's not great news, sorry for you bud. Maybe get yourself a head and have it skimmed and reseat the valves, put it all together and you will feel the freshness.
I spent about £300 on my old head on my red lude. skimmed and new valve seals and valves reseated, its a good investment.

Hey Guys,
Thanks again for all the links, advice and sympathy.
Rich from Performance Autoworks is working on my Lude and I know that it's in the best of hands - he's going to rebuild the head at the best possible price for me and hopefully I'll hear v.shortly about the costs (I'll keep ya'll updated) and I hope to have her back soonish.
