yep all JDM Preludes that were imported from Japan and were under 10 years old would have had a mph sticker put on the dials and a speedo convertor chip fitted.
ive removed the convertor chip in my BB4 and fitted UKDM (Mph) Dials and a spoon v2 chip from Rob and now have vtec in 1st gear.

Sorry, my English is so bad that it is hard to explain for me, but i'll try :newkid wrote:Vtec definitely has a minimum speed. Vss goes no vtec as it can't tell if that speed is being reached.
for me, it is not a "minimal speed limitation" but only a way to be sure that the car is moving . This is why if the vss is gone, there's no vtec engagement.
Well, for me the most important thing to keep in mind is that if there's a minimal speed to reach in way of allow the vtec engagement, this value is so low that even if a speed converter is connected between the vss and the ECU, in way of going other the 180 km/h limitation, there will be not a real big difference.
Hope this time what i have in mind is most clearer for you all, if not, i'll try once again. And please don't forget that i'm french and that my English is not very good

I know it's flashpro but same idea.
The problem with jdm ecus is its looking for that minimum speed in kph. In the convertor chip is before the ecu the ecu never sees that minimum kph to allow vtec engagement in first. Second etc is fine as it reaches it.
I found the best way round it was spoon chip an switch dials to mph ones. Saves any convertor needing to be used.

Thanks for the input guys, useful info there, my bb4 had a spoon chip and mph dials and had vtec in 1st... those were simpler times
I’ll have a look at a converter and try get hold of nucleustylzlude
