5W-40 full syntetic

is the Way to go in any B and H Series Engine!! Its recommend in ITR and ATR Manual!
For UK climate (ambient temp range) 10w-40 is the most suitable, as per the oem service manual.

And there's no worries there Steve - plenty of others on here not massively au-fait with fumbling under the bonnet! If you love your lude, that's enough to be welcomed on here :D

Does anyone use or recommend additional oil additives?

Or is it just snake oil and use of a good quality synethetic is all that's needed?

Seems the consensus on the likes of Piston Heads is additives are snake oil and to be avoided.

Shouldn't be a need to put additives in if you use a good quality oil on a well maintained engine.

I think the oil change interval would be more important than introducing additives.

Such viscosity!

A very good move, do you know what peak temps you hit? Do you have an oil temp gauge? I should be using an oil with a higher hot viscosity than I have been in the racelude.

For my road prelude, Magnatec 10W 40 has always done the job.

Yes it will behave like 10w40 but hold together higher temps. My oil temps havnt been over 100 degree yet with the oil cooler. Not really pushed it for more than 20 mins yet however.

It's what rich used in the engine so I'll use it.

Nice!

I do see my oil pressure start to drop once I get above 110 so want some extra protection at those higher temps.

The 5W40 is like the 10W just with better cold start and same heat stability. I guess by UK clumate u mean colder then germany. So it should be even more suitable? I cant find the manual anymore, but iam sure it said 5W40 with serve conditions. As it was in english, it has to be UK one.. :?

Cheers for that! Yeah I'm just glad there are people that know how these things work - I reversed into a metal post a few weeks ago but thankfully he's out of hospital! £486 poorer though
