You'll need to put all the EGR bits back. I think there are two codes, 1 due to amount of valve lift (insufficient etc) and another due to lack of change in the map sensor when valve is active (according to the 5th gen manual anyway). Anyone managed to get rid of the egr with the standard ecu?

D'oh!

Yes I guess I find a breaker to rob the bits from

Wonder if its costing me any performance? Car feels storming at the moment and kept a mk6 gti edition 35 very honest!!

I think there is a bit of debate whether the egr costs power etc. Yes it does spoil the incoming air/fuel ratio with exhaust gas but it also lowers combustion temps (allowing more ignition advance). Take the EGR away and you might well having an engine that is in danger of pre-ignition/knocking etc.

IMHO it won't harm performance at all.

EGR is only active at part throttle, and its purpose is to reduce NOx emissions, and increase MPG very slightly.

You can just use any vac pipe to connect it back up.
