Will a type r accord head fit ontop of an a5 block ??

Found a low mileage head to replace my one at 146k but read about a closed deck somewhere?

Can get the ecu and manifold etc as well but just need to know if itll fit and any issues i will have

Yes it will. You'll benefit from the cams and the head's mild factory port and polish, and the inlet manifold, but only if you convert to ODB1 and remap or use the ATR ecu. Converting to OBD1 and remapping will see you have the best gains.

All the arsing about you may aswell buy a complete a8 or a7 and bolt that in imho. For the slight gains of actually swapping the heads over on a low comp bottom end. I'd be suprised if swapping the head (if you take the cams out of the equation) will see more than a couple of hp.

if I were in your boots I'd either just swap the cams or buy donalds a8 and drop that in. by the time you buy a head gasket set, skim the head, buy the head etc you'd be close if not over the price of a complete, lower mileage engine and at the end of the day how many top ends do you see go on a h series.

Fair play if you go down the head swap route, its a fair bit of work fir f/a gains.

My reasoning is i can do the headwork to this while still having my daily
Then when it comes to swapping them over i can spend less time on the overall engine (just pistons etc to do instead of a complete rebuild)

Or i may yet buy an a7 bottom and build both out of car

fair one, may i suggest sticking a set of atr/type s pistons and rods into the mix when you pull the head anyway? for the sake of a set of rings, rod bearings and a couple of hours work i suspect it will be well worth it

fair one, may i suggest sticking a set of atr/type s pistons and rods into the mix when you pull the head anyway? for the sake of a set of rings, rod bearings and a couple of hours work i suspect it will be well worth it

If i whack in 11.1 comp pistons, do i need to change anything else?
Havent got that far yet but i like to be prepared haha
