Well based on the fact that the stock intake setup was developed by Mr Hondas R&D department?bristol_bb4 wrote:based on what?chrismc wrote:Expect it to be making less BHP than the OEM Honda setup.
air filters on n/a setups offer little in terms of performance on a standard engine IMO over the years ive tried all sorts of different filters, at the moment ive got a universal filter on mine as it wasnt worth buying anything of higher value as im going turbo soon, until i see fair, definitive proof that "this filter is better than that filter by x ammount of bhp" i dont think ill ever buy an expensive filter again.
on a n/a engine of our size your talking probably 2-3bhp anyways
You are right in that fitting an 'expensive' CAI setup in isolation will not yield a great deal over stock- however fitting a cheap filter onto the rubber intake pipe will have an adverse effect. It will be susceptible to Heatsoak poor throttle response & the benefits of the OEM 'tuned length' setup will be lost. It 'might' make similar top end power but there will be a big hole in the torque curve somewhere
