Hi Folks,

Reluctant sale of my Scirocco :( Sadly it's a case of last in, first out. I know it's not a Prelude, or even a Honda, but you never know - it could be of interest to one of you.

Bought this from a guy on Retro Rides in Feb this year, as my Mk2 Golf is off the road and I was pining for an 80's VW to drive. When I got it, it was running out of tax and MOT, and it had some running problems - mainly sediment in the fuel tank, plus it had a manual choke Pierburg carb that I just couldn't get along with. The engine is a 1.8 EX block.

At any rate, after a bit of hard work, she now runs lovely - I've got her back on an autochoke Pierburg carb, and after a bit of setting up she now starts on the button even in the cold :) Put a brand new battery into it the other week, as the old one was on it's way out. After some cleaning of the tank and some short interval fuel filter changes the sediment appears to have been beaten as well. When bought the car used to cut out after a few miles, however since replacing the carb I've test driven the car around on main roads for an hour without any trouble whatsoever. I've also been using it as my daily driver for work with no issues.

On to bits you're probably more interested in - MOT until March 2014, Tax until September 2013. All it needed for MOT was an anti-roll bar bracket and the idle mixture leaned out. Mileage is 124,400, may go up a bit as although I'm still using it.

The bodywork isn't perfect unfortunately, there's the stone chips and car park dings you'd expect on a 25 year old car. She looks nice after a wash though, and is still a very striking car :) The bonnet has sadly been sprayed very poorly at some point, the paint has oxidised in places and could do with respraying. A local bodyshop quoted me £100 for this, so it shouldn't break the bank. I just never got rounnd to it unfortunately. As she's a Scala, the body kit is colour coded, which in my opinion looks better than the grey plastic versions on other models. OEM snowflake wheels too!

The interior is in ok condition - the front seats were upgraded to Coraddo ones, and I took the back bench out as no full grown human can fit in the back of a Scirocco! I still have it though and it can go back in no trouble, I just preferred the space as occasionally my labrador came in the car and I won't have him on the seats! The car will be properly cleaned out with a wet dry vac before it goes. The dash is in fairly good shape, usually these crack quite badly but this one seems to have held together. All the electrics work as they should.

The car is located in Seaford, East Sussex. £650 takes it, however I'm open to offers to find a good home.

Finally, here are some pics I took when the sun briefly came out:

Ooooh, that's a result compared to scrapping it though, surely?

Yes, I'd have been very upset to see it hauled off for scrap - it didn't deserve that. It's gone to a friend of a friend through the local VW scene, he's looking to do it up so hopefully it'll get some attention lavished on it :)

I'm riding the train to work this week now though :|

I have 2 working cars and 2 broken cars at my house. Laura drives the Accord, and the only other drivable car is the Golf. However, in my infinite drokking wisdom I've put the Golf in the garage, and it's now blocked in by 2 cars with no wheels  fml

Then there's the Accord at my parents... I regularly forget that I own that car
