1997 Honda Prelude VTI Gen 5

Post by Lukas1 » Sun May 27, 2012 8:02 pm

Item for sale: 1997 Honda Prelude VTI Gen 5

Item Condition: Used.

Price and price conditions: £850 or will accept reasonable offer.

Extra Info: Due to being given a free car, I have no use for my Prelude as I work only a short bike ride away so I have decided to sell up.

1997 Model on a P Reg with a 2.2 DOHC VTEC engine producing 185bhp and it sure feels like it still has all the ponies!
Vogue Silver.
Tax until 31/08/2012.
MOT until February 2013.
Rare Manual, most are Semi Autos so hard to come by a manual.
FSH from new including all receipts for pretty much everything ever bought.
Electric Windows, Electric Mirrors, PAS, ABS, A/C, Cruise Control all working without any issues.
Comes with Motegi Bodykit and SIR front lip along with the Motegi Wheels.
Cambelt changed less than 6 months ago.

Car was purchased to get me comfortably from Southampton to Fareham a few times a week for work and also the odd trip here and there to London and only recently a trip to Alton Towers was completed with one tank of fuel meaning an average consumption of 40+ MPG which for a 2.2 with not far off 200bhp is pretty good! When I purchased the car in March it came with two issues which I sorted quickly, the radiator developed a leak which I replaced with another unit and the gearbox thrust bearing went so I replaced the box with a 50k mile reconditioned box. Mechanically the car is perfect apart from the issues which I will address in a moment.

Cosmetically is unfortunately where the car is let down which I will also address but will mention that other than the points mentioned, it's in pretty good shape, the interior is all in one piece and only has very faint tiny marks on the the dash and centre console.

Bad Points:

- Rear disks need replacing as they make a slight grinding noise when braking - Noted as an advisory on the previous MOT.
- Rust on the drivers door - will grab some pics soon - replacement door will be provided.
- Rust on the tailgate - about the size of a 50p.
- Corroded wheels but can supply paint for the them as I no longer need it.
- Gearbox is a little stiff when cold but works perfect when warm with no crunching or shifting issues.

So if you're after a cheap fun cruiser with a 0-60 of less than 7 seconds but can still achieve over 40 MPG on a run then get in touch

Thanks.

Those are pics of the worst wheel and the aforementioned rust, the rest of the wheels are OK and of course the door is included in the sale as is a decat pipe, lots of spare paint and sandpaper but unfortunately the stereo isn't.

Please don't let the pics put you off, they make it worse than it is but would rather the buyer has a better idea of the cosmetic side of the car.

Also a price drop to £750 as I need it gone but I'm open to offers.

It has had the first few coats but it needs flattening back and a few more plus lacquer. But essentially yes at the moment.

Cheers buddy.
