Decat question

No, not in the key of C. An H is likely involved though ...

Decat question

Post by macky_6 » Fri Mar 02, 2012 2:27 pm

Hey all,

I have a 2.25 inch cat-back exhaust. I am looking to get a Decat pipe but will I need to get a custom one or will the off the shelf ones do the job?

Regards :)

The biggest issue is Jap or UK, since they are different lengths IIRC.

Edit: Sorry, noticed yours is a 5th gen, so not sure if that applies

Yours is a jap import and the convertor is a few inches longer so unless you can find a JDM Decat you might have to get one made up. RMS in Ayr should be able to sort you out.

It's a JDM one I was looking at.

I am more concerned with the bore size. Does it need to match the 2.25 inch cat-back exhaust? I am assuming the JDM one i am looking at will be 2inch bore.

Will this matter?

Is there more performance to be had by getting a custom 2.25 Decat made?

:?

Any step down in size will reduce flow so I would try and get one that is 2.25 inch. Not sure if there is any more performance to be had by a custom one but at least you know it fits when you get it which might not be the case if you buy one in......... ;)

If you cant find what your looking for off the shelf then you could try Solid Fabrications think theyre based in London. They made a lot of JDM straight thru decats and could probably do a custom one for you.
