How many point cage are you going for? Are they tieing it in with the front shock towers out of interest?
It is a case of I left it with him and what ever has been done to the car is what I get. We agreed on basing it on a 6 point safety cell (which conforms to the MSA guidelines) and then he will throw as much extras at it as he can. So extra door bars, more criss-crossing of the rear etc... I'll be discussing with him next week what is being done with tying to the front shock towers.NafemanNathan wrote:How many point cage are you going for? Although generally considered to be strong enough for road use I have had my doubts for some time over it's ability to resist twisting during hard use - you can in fact twist them relatively easily in your hands. Honda must have had the same doubts too as the later 5th gen received a hefty plate addition to beef up their arms.
So without wanting to resort to buying new 5th gen UCAs which are actually too far the other way...over engineered and much too heavy, I decided to make use of the 4th gen items I had and a little bit of structural work. The pic below goes from OEM arm, through the modifying process right through to painted, cleaned up inner joints and new poly bushes. Job done.
