Re: Merlin's 4G Track Lude - Last time out for the H22a2

I'm almost at the stage where the engine swap can go ahead 8-) I took part in the H-Tune group buy and got the Competition Clutch Stage 5 4 puck paddle clutch, got a new TPS as the one on the new engine was cracked, bought some heat wrap for the cold induction kit Indigolemon gave me, a new cooling plate on the cheap, and the bulkhead fixing for the heater hoses.

The hoses that come off the engine are 3/4" (19mm) so I got a new fixing that eliminates the stock copper pipes. It also reduces down to 1/2 (13mm) for the interior pipes. While the engine is out I'm going to get all of the holes in teh bulkhead from the old heater hoses and aircon welded over.

All I really need now is a new oil cooler setup. I decided I'm getting a thermostatic sandwich plate from Mocal, the plate opens feeds to the external cooler when the oil reaches 80C. That way if its ever really cold the oil will be kept at optimal temperature, not too hot but not too cool 8-)

Nice vid bud - is that an app that adds all that info to the side? Cool if it is. Also how do you get the interior vid in the corner?

Yeah thats an app called Optrix Video Pro, it records all the data and adds it to the video. The interior vid is shot with a cheapo chinese made incar DVR, then added to the vid with Adobe Premier Pro 8-)

8)

Nice skills bud. Looks really good. I'll have to get that app. I've played with Premier Pro back at College, have to see if I have an old dodgy copy somewhere to have a play.

Can't wait to see your new beast put together, Time Attack competing is gonna be amazing. I think we're all a little jealous. Maybe I'll join it too one day - that'll be, what..about the year 2020?

Intake

Post by Merlin » Sun Nov 18, 2012 9:39 pm

^^ Cheers 8-)

I have been using the the OEM intake with my H22a2 but this wouldn't do the job for the new engine. Through some kindly given parts from other Luders I have cobbled together something that should be capable. I'm told piping of Ebay intakes get really hot when exposed in the engine bay, so I have wrapped it. Im going to spray it with hight temp coating which protects the wrap, stops little bits of fibre glass coming off, and adds the the shielding effect. Nimbus Motorsport here on the forum sells it at a decent price. The bore of the intake piping matches the Apexi Super Intake filter. I just need to clean the filter & get a few rubber couplers to finish it off.
