Rich at PAW will do you a baffled sump on an exchange basis for yours & at
a very reasonable price. :)

He supplies sump gaskets as well - I shopped around & was shocked at how
much they cost!

03/11/12 - TrackScotland

Post by Merlin » Tue Nov 06, 2012 6:32 pm

03/11/12 - TrackScotland

Format - 4 hour open pit
Cost - £100
Conditions - Freezing cold. Cold and slippy track but slowly drying throughout the session

This weekend was a different experience to my last successful track day which was roasting hot, this one was freezing cold. It was so cold that I had to drive to the circuit with my racing gloves on "Take your heater out they said, you'll go faster they said!"

The track day was eventful due to the challenging track conditions. Within the first 10 minutes someone in a 172 Clio had already slid off track, rolled it in the gravel, and written it off:

Then there was this brand new Toyota GT86 who binned it into the tyre wall which totalled his drivers wing and front bumper:

I had my first ever spin out. I went too fast into the chicane which screwed up my line resulting in me clipping a sausage kerb and flipping the car around (must have been similar to what the GT86 did). I didn't get this on video as it was my last run of the day and my camera battery had died. Thankfully no damage and I kept it off the grass / out of the barrier.

On the whole I was trying to take it easy as my brakes didn't feel great and my clutch was slipping. I just wanted to keep the car in one piece before I start work on it over the winter.

With the RainSport 2's on:

So that was the last time I plan to use the H22a2 on track. Next time out it will be the H22a beast

Can't believe how well your Prelude turns in even on road tyres!

Heel & toe will help your clutch last longer ;)

Any time you want! We can show those Subaru's a thing or two :D

That's due to all the suspension work done last winter and having the geo setup by a pro. The car is totally flat though the corners. It's not nice to drive on normal roads.
