I'm just planning for the worst, but also included the cost of the MOT itself in that. I usually have to spend £100-150 for each MOT to get it roadworthy again.wurlycorner wrote:That is a good price if he'll do a neat job.
What's the other £200 for come MOT time?
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

The way I see it is if you put the £400 quoted into required bodywork plus some money for whatever you need for MOT then the car is going to see you good for a fair few more years. Any replacement car is going to need yearly maintenance and repairs anyway so better the devil you know, unless its so new a car that it's unlikely to break in which case it'll probably cost more in depreciation anyway. I'd stick it out matey, it's definitely a nice enough car to warrant it

My friend is rebuilding his Renault 5. He bare shelled it and currently getting a welder next door to his garage to weld new panels in. Charging £10 per hour and doing it over the next few weekends. Trust me when I say the chassis is pure rust on the floors.
