What's the other £200 for come MOT time?
I'm just planning for the worst, but also included the cost of the MOT itself in that. I usually have to spend £100-150 for each MOT to get it roadworthy again.

That's a very good price, my crx cost me way more than that. Phil hit the nail on the head though, there are basically two options and one of them had the word gash in it, that's what I'd go for.

The way I see it is if you put the £400 quoted into required bodywork plus some money for whatever you need for MOT then the car is going to see you good for a fair few more years. Any replacement car is going to need yearly maintenance and repairs anyway so better the devil you know, unless its so new a car that it's unlikely to break in which case it'll probably cost more in depreciation anyway. I'd stick it out matey, it's definitely a nice enough car to warrant it :)

My friend is rebuilding his Renault 5. He bare shelled it and currently getting a welder next door to his garage to weld new panels in. Charging £10 per hour and doing it over the next few weekends. Trust me when I say the chassis is pure rust on the floors.

once sorted im respraying it silver inside and out Including the cage.

It can always be saved.
