Was thinking of buying one of these this year in V6 flavour, but reliability puts me right off

there is nothing wrong with alfa reliability matey the engines run and run the chassis are great they have a rep for rust but tbh they are no worse than honda's the 2 litre is the one to get though its detuned so as not to embarress v6 owners
I owned an alfa 75 2 litre tspark it was awesome and it had vtec 8-)

Nice buy!

My mate is a HUGE Alfa fan, its all he drives. He's had a couple now, and everyone has always ended up with electrical faults

I'm by no means an Afra expert, but after reading this thread I decided to give TUV ratings a look...
There are only 4 alfas there: 145, 147, 156, and 159 and they are all awful in terms of reliability according to these ratings.

i had loads of alfa's from suds to a 164 never had an electrical problem but a lot of fiats have electrical problems and i think its where parts are used from there bin so the alfa's that share components are the unlucky ones
