Post by jjmartin349571 » Sat Feb 25, 2012 10:32 pm

Hi folks,

So, finally got my engine, thought I best start a thread! Engine's in the van currently, as after a 250 mile round trip I've found myself in the pub :D

Anyhow, couple of photos

Hoping to get the old block out tomorrow, then going to start sorting the loom hiding in the corner of the van :?

Not going to be fun... Replacing everything out the Accord so got to get the dash out, seats, god knows what else! Hopefully have some show and tell tomorrow.

Wish me luck!

Josh

Decided to start to look at the loom today

However started untangling it and it looks a bit friendlier... Maybe lol

I take it this part is the interior loom, it has a connection for the stereo as well as the ECU. I'm guessing the interior loom is separate from the engine loom, which leaves me wondering how they're joined? Do they meet at the fuse box? On my Accord the engine loom feeds through a big grommet and into the cab, can't see anything like that here though?

Haha yeah I'm thinking I might need to find some schematics, there's a Honda garage who's name slips my mind but their website has loads of diagrams :)

Anyway, gave up on the loom today and focused on getting the Accord ready. One thing I want to do is put my new ECU under the passenger seat like in the donor Prelude. So took the seat out...

Turns out this is where the equaliser for my Bose sound system lives lol. Will have to see what lives under my driver seat I think, I have to take it out anyway as I'm removing the dash to feed the loom so no problems there.

In other progress I pulled the full exhaust system to make way for a new one, then started to pull the old engine. Found an impressive hole in the bottom end when I got the exhaust manifold off  guess that's why it stopped working lol. Complete 'well there's yer problem' moment :P I thought I'd blown a seal!! Oh well lol. At any rate, I got all the mounts off, started to lift the engine out, however it kept fouling parts of the engine bay  Got dark before I could figure out everything fouling, so rested the engine back in for another day. Bit annoyed about that but no way I could sort it in the dark :( off work tomorrow so hopefully take a look at stripping the block further

The preludes ECU was under the passenger seat?! What model of prelude was that?
