trikes are very dangerouse, your more likely to be involved in a fatality on a trike than on a bike  usually involving somthing hitting one of your rear wheels, sometimes this can simply be the kerb, yep a couple died on a trike just 3 years ago just down the road from me in this way  but then i supose smoking fags and drinking booze is too infact most fun things are dangerouse, ride carefull man :D personaly i have always liked them

just a quick thought, if you have to change the logbook to tricycle, surely only an examination from sva is the only way this would be possible? am i wrong :o

Normally you'd be right about the sva, but I'm not changing the frame, just bolting on a new rear swing arm frame to accommodate a reliant axle.

Chain drive trikes are quite dangerous, but this is shaft drive, and with being used to driving cars I won't think it's narrower than it actually is.

can you do this, umm intresting, what if the rake is altered? what parts of the frame has to remain as is? supose a shaftee could eliminate the problem of keeping the rear axle the same distance from the drive from the motor, just have a shaft that can slide within itself, this raises ideas i hadnt considered before 8-) :D i have toyed with the idea of belts before but not shafts, (at the time the only shaftie was the bmw that was easy avalible), but now theres loads :D

Diversion 900 is the best to get really as plenty of power, under a 1L and a 4cyl engine too.

It's just insured as a trike, it's going to be modified anyways by definition. I'll extend the rake and put forward controls on it too to make it more comfortable. I'll do ape hangers as well. As long as its a bolt on conversion and a soft tail it's fine :) no sva needed :D

i have seen the bolt on kits around, who desides its bolt on? what if i modded the frame a bit, who would know? i had this same thought while building a kit car, it suddenly accured to me that i could just buy an old kit car (already registered) then change the whole car inc its chassis, brakes the lot, then regiister a change of engine and hey presto no sva :D seems a little daft here. i asked this question on a kit car furum and i got a barrarge of abuse (it was a hyperthetical question) same as the trike questions. so how do you go about reging it as a trycycle? its easy with say a side car, but what other bits does it have to have like for instance a hand brake or reverse gear? :?

DVLA check to ensure it is a bolt on conversion (ie a soft tail conversion) when they count the number of wheels and change the body type on the V5C.

It has to have a handbrake for parking, and lights on the fenders to show the width at night, but other than that, nothing more.

I'd rather just do it myself, I know where I'm standing there. Plus that would need an SVA which is just more work and more costs too.

how are you planning to use the shaft? what dif are you using? is it possible to move the shocks and still not need an sva? also can you adjust the rake by simply replacing the existing fork yokes and central fork mount and have one made so that it simply drops into the original fork housing (if you see what i mean  ) can it have independent suspension with cv joints or is this then an sva joby
