ok this weekend we continued fabricating the H2B kit with Morf catching a good welding tan :)

also finished up cleaning the start and alternator and sprayed those, i also did the H-Series engine mount in black.

we also learnt my template making skills were not the best and i drokked the drill bit we needed also :(

so after a quick dash to B&Q for some cutting disks this is where we are, Morf is to finish the kit up in the week and next weekend will see the sol fired up for the first time in a few months and the last time as a B16 as we will start the removal process. we will hopefully complete the remaing parts of the kit and engine modification to allow correct alignment.

here are some not so good pics of what we did this weekend:

also fitted the EGR block plate

i also got a JDM P13 Spoon chip copy from Rob on the lude-generation forum for future use and testing once the engine is in and running. this is not you £!0 ebay piece of bum droppings this is a proper copy of the Spoon ECU chip as can be seen on this thread.

this will hopefully replace the SuperChip chip that is currently in my ECU.

cheers for looking all.....

Coming on nicely.

That white gunk inside the cooling channels is either corrosion build up or silicate deposits from the cooling system not being flushed properly before changing coolant type. Either way, not a problem provided you give it a good flush and clean this time.

Not sure I advise petrol in a pressure washer though

haha well its actually going to get pressure washed tomorrow because this intake is one of the dirtiest i have come across. as you say coolant cant of been change or no anti freeze used and every channel and oraphis is choked full of soot

so tomorrow is karcher time i may fill a tub with petrol first to loosen things up.... :?:

ok so this weekend we continued on the kit making the template for the rear axle bracket and cutting that out ready for drilling. we also started on stripping the engine bay of the DelSol, which gave us a shock when we found no water in the rad and thought the worst but then asked who removed the bottom rad hose? no one had so this must of fallen off on the way to Morfs thankfully the engine did not overheat.

picture update plus some other goodies that have arrived:

ok so this weekends update, the engine is out :) the loom is swapped, extended dizzy leads, found the alternator i got is from an OBD2 H22 not an OBD1 H22 so i am going to do the OBD2 to OBD1 alternator conversion :) fitted new fuel filter also. took the engine out by lifting the car so took 15 minutes which was great. we finished the conversion kit also. we did kebab a sensor near the oil filter with the hammer and disintegrate it so i need to find out what it was and get a new one....

Only just picked up on this thread.

Honestly not normally a del Sol man but this looks like it'll be great. Brilliant work.

Also, that exhaust header is tremendous!
