Re: Old Jazz - New Mot
cheers @W1ggz ive used G3 cutting compound with good results and will go over the whole car with G10 and machine glaze. the handprints are tricky to work on as they vanish as soon as you put water on them and then reappear when dry
so its going to take a few goes to get it done.
good news was it only needed a couple of wiper blades and a new back box to pass its Mot
thanks to @3rd gen steve for all that.
i hired a rug doctor carpet cleaner and blitzed the interior - it was minging
couple of pics showing a major improvement but it will need done again to get it properly clean.

Now i need to get on with fixing a few other bits - main one being the leak from the roof rails at the back where the seam selaer has cracked...must find out what is best sealant/adhesive to use
couple of bad pics of problem area

Lastly got a couple of other easy fixes done - remote central locking was fixed by simply fitting a new battery to the fob and i splashed out on a set of snazzy new wheel trims (pick them up on thursday) at £10.99 for the set
Enjoying the cheapness of running the jazz and will see how it gets on as a daily workhorse over the next few weeks.
Only negative so far has been the fact it doesnt have a cd player it only has a radio/cassette player - im not impressed

he said just to be smoother on the throttle and it shouldnt be an issue

i dont know if you can clean it out or refurb it..but its not really an issue as such...ive bought the jazz as economical daily so wont be a bad idea for me to learn to drive with economy in mind.
Its had its new passenger airbag and drivers side master window control switch fitted this morning at Honda as part of the safety recalls on these items. i saw them checking the car over after this work was done and was expecting a long list of parts that need replaced/work that needed done but nothing was mentioned

Only outstanding items im aware of:
1/new front brake pads - need to buy
2/seal leak from roof rain channels - ive bought some INDASA car body sealer for this.

Yea you will notice it more when cruising at very light throttle. You could clean it out but you will need a new gasket as it will destroy it taking it off. Yea water leaks are super common from the rear run channels in the roof. Just seal it up. Go 12-14 inches up roof line and down to the boot seal seam.

Re: Old Jazz - New Mot
Cheers for the info
i spoke to the previous owner of the jazz and they confirmed roof rails had been sealed at Honda main dealer - it was outwith warranty period and they were very reluctant to do the job which is probably why it hasnt lasted
hondatech guy showed me the repair data sheet and said sikaflex 221 was specified sealant and its to be applied under the roof rails and about 4 other places so wont be as straight forward as i thought but if it gets messy i have thought ahead and bought some grey sealant which should blend in with the silver paint work to some degree
also got some more service/repair history and a bill of sale - car was a Honda Approved 2nd hand car which sold for £4995 -that was 8 years ago and with 40,000 miles less on the clock. Its had a fair bit work since with new brake pipes, wing mirrors, front windscreen etc
ive stuck some super unleaded in the tank to see if it helps the clear hesitation - its only really noticeable when tootling around town when you are decelerating and then back on the pedal straight away-its juddery for a few seconds then clears.
No issues at motorway speeds.

Re: Old Jazz - Factory Safety Recalls
Finished work a bit early and weather was dry so sealed the roof rain channels and a couple of other bits around the top of the tailgate and also around the top of the rear light assembly - no need to paint as the grey blends well with the silver
Just need to check the sunroof drain channels and fitment to make sure no water ingress. I never owned a car with a sunroof so this will be a first for me.
Ive used seam sealer by INDASA and got plently left so will come in handy for the lude

Re: Old Jazz - Factory Safety Recalls
took some pics of work i did with the sealant yesterday - its not the neatest job ive ever done but as long as it stop the water getting in thats the main thing
also gave the jazz it first cut and polish in my ownership - paintwork isnt too bad but has the usual scuffs and chips on both bumpers.
headlights polished up nicely at third attempt
