Been a busy boy today! Pulled the rear speakers out my Accord and replaced them with the rear speakers from my Prelude. Was nice working on the Accord, the boot is big enough for me to get inside comfortably  the Prelude on the other hand required me to go into contortionist mode to remove the speakers

So here are the Accord speakers :?

Here are the housings with the speakers from my Prelude installed. Tbh they don't look much healthier :? Will have to get the Vibe speakers out my Citroen I think

Here you can see the difference in the size of the speaker magnets. The OEM Accord speaker is on the right, the Alpine speaker on the left

Been playing around and they sound much better than stock. The bass is great and there's no distortion until you crank the volume right up. For now I'm happy :) but in the future I'll be investing a bit more in Audi equipment for this car  only problem is I don't want to remove the stock head unit, I want to keep it retro!

Well if you ever sell the car, dibs on the dash mat

As for wanting to keep the stereo retro, why not have a look at stuff like this:
http://www.retrosoundusa.com/products/category/id/1

Fitted a couple when I was in the states and they're really rather good. A bugger to fit though if you're fitting one built to replace a 1950's factory radio, but they do a normal single DIN one too, and just looks quite nice without being overly modern.

They have a UK distributor here: http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewP ... ortOrder=1

Now to start playing with it, I'm thinking audio, wheels and lowering 8-) Bit of a dilemma RE the audio though - I kind of like how retro the stereo is, and I'm not sure if I want to replace it with a modern head unit. I want to be able to play my music through it though, so I'm a bit stuck. I've used FM transmitters before, but they're gash. Might have to look at putting my music all on to cassette maybe

Not necessarily. The 3rd Gen Prelude used a new type of steel and different structure on the pillars and firewall meaning they can be strong and thin.
But still not modern by any means.
