Nope that's my equaliser :P but I thought the BB4 had the ECU under the seat, sure that's what the fella said unless I wasn't paying attention lol. Which is possible :P at any rate, I want the ECU to be somewhere accesable. It's currently under my dash, behind the centre console, and in the future I'd like to swap it easily rather than taking the whole interior lol. I thought under the seat would be good but there's Bose stuff hiding under there!

Hi guys,

Going to get some photos up today, and thought I'd start out with some photos of why the old engine is coming out

So, after removing the exhaust manifold I spotted this on cylinder 3

Image

Which would explain why all my oil was relocated to the engine bay, and the engine seized. Heres a close up

:?

Whilst taking that photo I spotted a second hole!!

Think that those are two fairly hefty holes!! This shot puts them into perspective a bit better

Image

Think that this was a fair enough excuse to get a H22A :D will be taking it a bit easier with this one though, I've learnt my lesson the hard way :(

Woah! I wonder what caused that.

So, spent most of my day off crawling around inside the car seeing as it's cold out today!! I want to get the whole dashboard off the car so I've been working towards that, when I left it today it looked like this  lol. Still loads more to remove unfortunately.

I just know getting the dash out is going to be a nightmare, but it's the only way I can really sort out which wires I need, and those I don't. Plus I still have to get that old ECU out!! So much still to do :?

Well, it's been a while so thought I should probably do something! Went to good old Halford's and got a 12 point 14mm deep socket to get those head bolts out. Second cylinder head I've had to remove, and once again the jack handle/socket wrench combo saved the day! The bolts were properly stubborn but with the leverage they came out. Thought it'd be nice and easy to get the head out after that, but no :x had to remove a clamp from the power steering line, also disconnect some of those cable tie holder things from the engine loom, and finally when I lost my patience - slashed hoses with a knife  anyway, got it out, and here's my piston block

:puke:

Not good! It's shot anyway so will be weighing it in for scrap. Not got an engine crane so stuck now, but next move is to remove the gearbox and pull the bottom end out, then I'll be on the way to getting the new block in :vtec: Looks more manageable now though at any rate :)

All this is made more complicated by the fact that my girlfriend and I are hopefully moving out soon!! :scaredtoss:

By the way,

Does anyone know what sort of socket to use when doing the passenger side engine mount up? That huge stud gets in the way of everything! I could only undo that mount using a spanner once the cylinder head was off :?
