Meet the Pig!

Post by Pot_147 » Sun May 13, 2012 6:58 pm

The Pig is my daily drive, it's a y2k Nissan Primera with a 2.0TD engine, manual, ~100k on the tacho but closer to 300k in real life. (You literally can not buy a car second-hand that has the real mileage on the tacho in Hungary.)

This is probably the slowest cars I've ever had, but it's literally trouble-free with good mpg and so much space inside that upon crossing the Channel on the ferry people weren't sure whether the car was going inside the ferry or the other way around. :)
Despite the fact that the 90bhp (originally) is nothing for the 1400+kg of dry weight, I really love the way the car handles. Once you gain enough momentum, it is actually quite nice to drive.

I would not say I love this car, but at the time I bought it it was still probably the best option I could go for.

Yeah, it's a great tool, takes me almost anywhere. Doesn't go so well with the doorhandle forward on the sandy tracks as my dad's Astra estate does. That one you can chuck around in the sand like a madman. That's the ultimate FWD driftmaster. The Nissan is very diffucult to make lose its balance which is lovely on the asphalt, but makes it totally uncontrollable under slippery conditions.

N./

ps.: I wish it was liberating. I bought it on a 5-year loan when it was 8 years old. Now 3.5 years later I still owe the bank more that what the car's worth. When I bought it it cost me over 4200quid. The same car in the UK back then cost around 7-900. A 5g Prelude 2.2vti in a jobby state with no or fake service history, undeterminable mileage on the tacho will cost you between 4-5000 quid. In Hungary. All LHD, of course...
