Turkish?

I have noticed two instanced of "Turkish" today, it isn't some part of the bizarre swear filter is it?

It used to be a term of abuse when I was a kid.

Short for 'despicable turkish nerk'.

Absolutely NFI what that was supposed to mean either.

Spud said his guys wasn't Turkish. Two put of the blue Turkish references in one afternoon, I though this might be wear related

No I asked Spud if the engine-oil-in-the-gearbox-guy was Turkish as I was jokingly suggesting it coud have been turbo_timer after bb1boy's sawdust in the gearbox comment. (Turbo_timer is Turkish I believe and he once sold a Lude with a gearbox full of sawdust

)

Ah. You are betraying your honesty there.

Another favourite that lasted until the car left the forecourt was putting gear oil in the engine so that those cars with oil pressure guages registered good pressure. This is going back before even my time, however, and maybe before the sale of goods act...

I did hear of a great fix once, where a Citroen 2CV's gearbox ran completely dry after an oil leak in the Atacama desert, and, not having oil, they packed it full of mashed bananas. Apparently ran fine for 500 miles until they got to a big city to fix it (true).
