So was moving some car stuff from my garage to the new house.. I had a lot of stuff in the boot, had to fold the seats flat and was driving slowly. All of a sudden I hear a loud clunk. When I opened my boot it was all fine but when I tried to close it, It wouldn't close.

Those boot bars are coming in the way of the speakers now. :? :? They were fine before but now they are coming in the way when I close the boot..

HELP!!

I think that brown clip in the middle which holds them in place has come out or gone missing.. Someone got any pictures of how it should look or who can help me would be great!

I managed to close the boot by holding the bars from inside but if I open it now it won't close!

Yes Merl, that's the part that has come out. It's not attached to the boot structure no more. It's loose and no matter how hard I try it won't go back in.. I need to move more house stuff and I can't now. Really annoying at the moment.

I have the same broken clip Nitin, is the metal where the clip is supposed to attach all mangled? I did ask @secla if he had one on his breaking Prelude but no response... I didn't fancy paying Lings a fiver postage on a £2.80 clip.

I temporarily fixed it by making a figure of 8 with two overlapping cable ties, it's not right but it stops that horrendous banging when you close the boot.

Thanks Donald!

I think cable ties are the future now!

So stressful when I load the boot with house stuff and then have to spend 30 mins in the rain to close it. Lol

Couldn't you just get one from your local Honda dealer so no postage?

Lings is actually only a 2 minute drive from my dads

Just thought I'd give someone here my money first ;) I'll probably just see if my dad will pop in for me. I can get an extra if needed, Nitin?

Cheers Donald, I will try to fit it using cable ties first lol.

It's like this:

IIRC, you need to jemmy both torsion bars fully into the hinges so there's minimal gap - they back out over time.

Then you 'unwrap' the clips on the brown thing & twist it into the slots in the parcel shelf first. Then you wrap the clips round the bars & snap them into place. You have to ensure they're correctly orientated left & right, otherwise it all just flies out again.

Lying in the boot & swearing seems to help.
