Gear knobs that is. I want to change mine to something non wood (all these penis puns, I'm like a child), but all those I can seem to find on the bay of E and such all say 'not suitable for autos or reverse lift'

Ignore it.
The lude doesn't have any buttons or levers, and doesn't need to be lifted - therefore any type will do whether specified for a manual or not. Most seem to be universal too as they have a few adaptors for different size threads.
I have an aluminium skunk 2 one in mine. Like this....

Have to disagree, the 4g auto has a shifter button to disengage from park and also the sports button. This makes finding a nice looking auto shifter a challenge.
IIrc the 5th gen auto is a totally different setup thus may be able to accommodate universal knobs.

I stand corrected, in that I should have stated that my post was based on my 5th gen. However, as I know the original post was started by a 5th gen owner it seemed a relevant response to his question.

You can install a button on your dash of Centre console for sports mode
My red bb4 had it

Giggity! I must admit I hadn't given a thought to the lack of buttons on the knob! Opens up my choices massively
