Lude Generation

Here's my 5th Gen

As I got it (with 83500miles on it and OEM stock):


Comes with all the Prelude extras including:
4 wheel power steering,
Cruise control,
Electric tilt and slide glass sunroof,

Laserline Alarm & Immobiliser (soon to be replaced with a Toad Ai606)

Had the centre console surround carbon wrapped the other day; looks lush done by Owen @ SlikGraphics

Suspension modded:

Ended up going for D2 coilovers instead. Come with full TUV approval now and a full 12months warrenty for any defects etc...

Ride height dropped c30mm all round



New shoes:

New alloys... Buddyclub SF 17 x 7 ET42 in Gunmetal grey with Ultralite anodised blue nuts & Toyo 215/45/17 T1R's

Better breathing:

New exhaust system arrived and fitted yesterday; Apexi WorldSport 2

System looks and sounds superb but fitment wasnt as good as we'd expected; had to heat and bend the right hand side hanger on the back box to get the tip to sit right under the bumper; also the centre section hangs a little low where it meets the back box.

It does catch on stupidly huge speedbumps but normal ones are fine; may try & get it sorted very soon with some that Stevie @ EightSpeed knows (he does a lot of fabrication etc...)

The sound is superb. Not stupidly loud at all; great when cruising as very quiet (very close to OEM to be honest) but in VTEC it gives a great grumble and growl when you floor the accelerator

New DC Sports 4-2-1 stainless manifold fitted (with mega thanks to Stevie at Eightspeed as the OEM one was welded together with rust so subframe off jobby it was )

Paintwork & bodywork correction (back-end):

To begin with...

Drivers door edge needs sorting:



Scratch on drivers side rear arch needs sorting; should be done when they cut out and re-weld the damaged area of rust (pic below) and the arch will be sanded down as well underneath to get rid of rust coming through. All to be resprayed and blended in:





Front and rear bumpers (and lips) to be resprayed; front bumper isnt too bad (just overspray really and a bit of orange peel). Rear bumper has a fair few scratches and scuffs etc...



Side skirts to be resprayed; full of scratches and scuffs:





Boot lid issues (lacquer ripped off when some dumbass tried to take off the 'Honda' & '2.2 VTi' badges (done before I bought the car but now covered with 2 cack stickers



Afterwards...

Bit of engine work:

ATR cams and cam gears

Good for a 15-20BHP rise as the engine stands; more when tuned



Managed to source a spare H22 head and cam cover so got the H22A5 spare head to Stevie @ Grinspeed in Leyland; we stripped it and then got it sent off to be cleaned (I think it had been living somewhere damp ). It was full of old oil and gunk.

It'll get a good once over and then more than likely skimmed just for peace of mind etc... Valve seats to be cleaned/lapped in as well as they were a little pitted but we think it was just surface corrsion

New HG, head bolts and valve oil seals received from the States; to be fitted along with the H22A7 cams and cam gears and the other bits (cam & balancer belt, cam seals and water pump) next week sometime...

Pt2.

Stevie's got the H22 head back; all cleaned after a caustic soda bath

Valves will need to be lapped in but that's it; the head has had a check skim and it's all level so that's good

Overall it's had a new cambelt, water pump, balancer belt and cambelt tensioner along with a new HG, H22A7 cams & cam gears, new cam oil seals, freshly lapped valves with new oil seals, a refurbed matt black rocker cover etc... A lot of these parts were soruced from inlinefour.com in the States. Even with shipping & import tax it worked out around £150-£200 cheaper than OEM Honda!

Latest mods/updates:

Small update: ATR 300mm brake set-up fitted with Bremtech slotted discs and ferodo DS2500 pads Calipers refurbed and painted matt black

Odyssey 25 battery and cover



Fitted:

I took out the OEM battery, the plastic case and the metal bracket that it sat on

I dremmel'd off the eyes of the metal bracket that you use for the OEM battery tie down so it was more flush

I then cut the plastic holder case down to size and dremmel'd a few holes in the side for the terminals to stick out (if you dont do this the terminals sit too low, touch the metal bracket and creat lots and LOTS of sparks

I DID NOT DO THIS...

I then took the Odyssey battery cage; marked out the 6 bolt holes and drilled them though the plastic tray case and bolted the battery down under the cage flush to the plastic tray

I then bolted the metal bracket back in place; slid a small ratchet strap under the tray and through the small hole at the front; placed the battery in its cage on the plastic tray flush into the metal bracket and then tied it down with the ratchet strap

Updates:

Rebuilt H22A5 with ATR cams & inernals fitted; new refurbed matt black rocker cover



(I know the manifold needs a polish )

ATR brake set-up (ATR calipers/carriers, bremtech 300mm slotted discs & Ferodo DS2500 pads) sanded down with the dremmel and painted matt black:

Work done today thanks to Stevie @ Grinspeed (I didnt hit him either if he says owt; he attacked his own face with a wrench )

OEM ATR clutch and XTD flywheel fitted along with a Goodridge clutch line, crank seal and drive shaft seals (no more leaks hopefully)

Oil sump removed, cleaned, re-sealed and re-fitted as it was leaking a little as well at the rear

Full oil (Fuchs 10W50) change and clutch fluid change







Next up: to lower the lude by another 5-10mm
