We are back in a Lude! After a few months of searching, we found this rather splendid piece of metal:

Getting used to being in charge of gears again sure made it an interesting bank holiday morning (got my license in a manual but been driving an auto since), but after a few loops on an empty parking lot it all came back fairly quickly... and that glorious 4ws, oh how I'd missed it!
There's a small mystery creak at the back at lower speeds that the hubby is trying to figure out, and the locking mechanism keeps clicking so has been disabled for now, but otherwise he's pretty mint, and only 80k miles. Hashtag feelsoblessed
It isn't a huge effort really if you have to (un)lock the car by turning the key in the door, when it's 20 years old - in fact there's something almost nice about it. No doubt someone on teh interwebz already knows exactly how to fix both it and the creak...........
