Dollywobbler's 4th Gen 2.0i

Hi folks

Having missed the boat on generations 1-3 when it comes to Preludes, I thought I'd better nab a fourth gen while they're still cheap! Not really a performance freak, so the 2.0i has enough power for me, even in auto form. Picked it up from Devon, 200 miles away, yesterday. Sailed home beautifully and managed 34mpg. Not bad at all.

Nice to be back in a Honda again, though there are a few issues to sort. One is a clonk from the rear end that feels like a damper bush to me. Clock has the 'minutes pass like seconds' fault too. Can't really complain as it drives really well, though the rear suspension does seem rather hard - am I expecting too much as a Citroen nerd?

Here it is all frosty yesterday morning. Heater's good!

Welcome to the forum.
Lude looks straight and true :-) and nice that it has the 4g alloys rather than steelies with caps.
I don't find the suspension in the back of a 4g hard (and I have errrm... 'a few' Citroens myself) but depending which ones you are used to, the lude will undoubtedly be 'harder'.

As for the knock, the suspension isn't renowned for giving any problems, except the ARB droplink bottom bushes, which are normally dry/hard/split by now. Other than that, bushes in general will now be old/tired... And that's pretty much it.

Thanks. I'll have a poke around at some point. Bought it in the dark, then drove it home until it was dark. I've barely seen it in daylight. Some rust blebs around the rear screen and arches. Sadly my 1991 Civic proved that Honda didn't quite crack the corrosion problem for some time...

The rear suspension knock is very common. Shock knock from the top of coil over. A simple washer cures this problem.

Yup, I've had to do that mod on all three that I've owned.

The clock thing? If you take the clock module out and resolder all the joints on the pcb it might fix it. It didn't with mine, I got a replacement from a scrappy.

Ah yes, that! sorry, how could I forget!

(though tbf to me, none of the 4g's through my hands have suffered from it)
