Hey Guys,

Thought it was about time to make myself a bit of a build thread (Finally!). I have been on the Forum for a while now and I thought I'd share my progress so far with my Lude.

Bit of a background: I bought my Prelude after having wrote of my Civic Coupe about a month before I was about to drop in a B18 powerplant. Was gutted as the whole front end was chewed up! After careful deliberation I parted her out like a wh*re with my best friend buying most of the parts for his Coupe. Once I got enough money together and after a lot of thinking, I knew I wanted something different from the civic and something a bit more grown up with a nice strong motor! Besides after having my accident and losing my no claims it was near impossible to insure something with a ton of mods again. I saw the Prelude on Gumtree and literally the day after the guy had posted it I drove to Central London (Well my friend drove me) to pick it up from a guy who was selling due to not being able to fit his windsurfing equipment into the back of it! (Very cool guy!)

The car came completely standard with the exception of a cat back exhaust system so although the initial engine size bumped up my insurance quote, the little mods kept it at a reasonable price,

It cost me £1200 for a car with 84000 miles which had always been run on Shell V-Power and had a fresh MOT! Also had its cambelt replaced so I was happy I didn't need to worry about that cost in the not too distant future!

I've done a lot of work on it already, and its a shame I did not make this build thread earlier to show you before and after pictures, but I'm hoping getting closer to the summer I'll be able to get some more work done with some pictures of my progress.

I bought the car in March last year and this is what I have achieved so far:

Refurbished Rocker cover in VHT red wrinkle paint
Valve Adjustment
New Clutch and Gearbox bearings
Full Brake overhaul with calipers finished in red
Headlight refurbishment
Removed PRELUDE on the rear bumper, Jap plate on the front.

Plans for this year:

Full Motegi Bodykit
New Alloys - Thinking matt black rota slips or gold torques
Some lows - wanting to keep 4ws and depending on funds anywhere from Meister R coilies too tien lowering springs.
New exhaust system (Not a fan of the oval tip and want to get something custom made up)

Anyways before I end up writing an essay I've taken some pictures of how the car stands at the moment, I might make a few mini posts of before and afters of the work I have done, assuming I can dig out the pictures. Still need to get some shots of the whole car now all the calipers are fitted!

Nice to see the lovin for the lude.

Amazing to hear a lude is affordable on insurance with no ncb and after writing another car though! :D

I had a bucket load of goodies on my old car and I toyed with the idea of buying a standard civic and transferring the lot across but my insurance went through the roof!

As a drivers car the lude is so much nicer! Can't wait to see how it handles with some lows :)

I used one of those ten month bonus accelerator schemes this year to grab back 1 years no claims which definately helped!

Looks great mate 8)

I was going to say I've got a Type-S front lip to tie in with the rest of the kit if you're interested?

Lots of Black 5th gens about recently, when I first joined the forum I sure there was hardly any.
